Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Requirements and Notes
Requirements for RDS with Flypay or Schedule Monitor Integration
-
Windows Server 2008 R2 must be used as the RDS host if using Flypay or Schedule Monitor.
-
Windows Server 2008 R2 is the first server operating system to offer IP Virtualization.
In Windows Server 2008 and previous versions, Terminal Server has a single IP address, which is shared among all TS users.
This makes the TS experience different from that of regular desktops and introduces some application
compatibility problems. In Windows Server 2008 R2, Remote Desktop Session Host server, formerly known
as Terminal Server, supports per-session and per-program Remote Desktop IP Virtualization for Winsock
applications. This essentially means assigning individual IP addresses to user sessions to avoid
application incompatibility issues by simulating a single user desktop.
-
Both Flypay and Schedule Monitor use Winsock to receive status notifications. Each instance of POS2100
requires a unique IP Address to receive these notifications. In a RDS environment without IP Virtualization,
each RDS session and any POS2100 instance running natively on the RDS Server will be assigned the same IP Address by
windows. RDS IP Virtualization will prevent this and allow each instance of POS2100 to have a unique
IP Address.
-
This link will describe how to setup IP Virtualization. Use per-session mode.
